It was fall, to others it was a time for festivals and fun. For her it meant harvesting plants that most wouldn't dare to touch, shaking her fur she padded through the ravine. Paws carefully guiding her over damp earth and stones she stepped on, her eyes were scouting for something. A plant, one that was very hard to find. A chilled breeze rolled through, forcing her coat to stand on end. Shuddering she curled her tail up against her abdomen, lips curling in a snarl. She spied the faint shape of Morgan flying from bush to bush and to each tree, also helping her look for such an elusive plant. She smiled, once found she would carefully pull it apart with shadows. Even a pup would know not to touch it, that is if they were told to leave it be. Her eyes would land on some Devils club, a tendril of black carefully rolled out. The black whisp hovered as if she was hesitating, scrunching her face at the plant, plucking it to place in her pack. She had made sure to come out here just before the sun could even be seen licking the mountains, yawning softly she continued to scour the path.

Orbs danced over to where the faint sight of the islands sat, ears twitching on her skull as she stopped. The subtle shifting of her orbs in their sockets, the only inclination that she was looking, scanning the island with longing. She desperately wanted to see what lay there, yet as far as she could tell only wolves with wings could fly there. Hissing with clear annoyance she tore her eyes away, she needed to keep searching. She was hoping to get her claws on the deadly nightshade but if she couldn't well she'd settle for something else, "Keep your eyes peeled for it, and other creatures here!" she called, an answering chirp from Morgan as all she got. Nodding to herself she spotted something purple, audits flew up painfully fast, she looked around. It was a very steep incline, she'd have to unsheathe her claws and be careful she didn't slip.

Pads pressed into the earth, breaking free small clumps of dirt and pebbles, her tail was swaying at a good pace to keep her balance. As she drew closer she sighed, of course, it wasn't what she was looking for, hissing in annoyance she spun around. Now to make her painful long climb back up the steep hill.

Belial, Male Mangrove Pit Viper
He could sense the changing of seasons. Something in him ignited, filling him with impulsive instinct. The cold was coming, something his empty husk of a body yearned for, which longed to feel ever colder. An ominous chill draped out behind him as he moved along the path through the forest. After meeting with Sonja, he'd traveled beyond the border of Ravine and into the beginning landscape of Oak Tree Basin. However, something called him from the heart of the trail that he'd left behind, and so he'd turned back, taking a full day to re-enter the trees that lined the Ravine.

It was at this point that Belial had chosen to part ways with him for a while, the tiny lamb adventuring off on his own. Nocturne had enough faith that he'd survive, the lamb's tenacious luck uncanny. He'd chosen a shallow hollow the spend the night in, his chest rising and falling in rhythmic slumber. When the sun climbed up over the horizon and had settled in the sky, a peculiar scent awoke him. Ghastly black eyelids flicked open without hesitation, the eerie brute's head raising slowly. He did not yawn, craning his neck to look over his shoulder at the surrounding trees. Nocturne deeply inhaled the smell, and then exhaled. He'd met her before, and her memory was fresh in his mind.

Rising to his full height on stilted stygian limbs, the wolf set off to find her. He moved quietly, melting his feet with the shadows around him and casting black areas across the ground as he went to silence his foot fall as her scent grew stronger. He lowered his head closer to the ground, tracking her by smell, tall and tapered ears swiveling atop his narrow dome. He could hear the sound of movement some many feet away from him, her scent strongest here as it permeated the air all around him. Lifting his head, he looked around, taking in the surrounding scenery to make note of all the places one could enter or exit.

He listened momentarily to the sounds of the trees, making sure no one was approaching before he turned his attention to the sloping edge of a steep hill off to his left. He wondered if that was the route she'd taken, something urging him to confirm this suspicion. Moving closer, he peered down the descent of dirt and moss to settle vacant vermilion pits on the curvaceous figure of the cosmic woman. Something peculiar hung around her mid section, a strange accessory that he'd never seen the likes of before. "Enjoying your expedition?" Dual voices called out to her in a seething, tenebrous hiss.

"Enjoying your expidition?" The voice that spoke down to her caused her to jump, cerulian flicked up. An easy feat since she was at an incline, blinking she looked over the male. This was the same one who had left her after her run in with the bear, narrowing her gaze she looked down and made her way up. "Depends on if you plan to help me look for what I'm searching, by the way." Her head tilted, studying him more closely. Inwardly she liked his appearance, how dark he was and how it blatantly showed off his intimidation. After scrutinizing him she huffed, continuing to speak.

"My name is Eris." With that she shouldered past him, her gaze sweeping the trunks and earth. Even though she has been out here since before dawn, it was a bit unnerving she had yet to find what she was looking for. Morgan flew over to her with sime berries, dropping them into her pouch before flying off. Claws where half out, to make sure she was well balanced on this treck. She also just noticed that the small ram that had been with him earlier was gone, pausing she twisted her head around. Gaze landing on him again, her skull tilted as she thought and stared. Something about him, made her purr.

She had seen him covered in blood that first time, but now, it made her sad not to see the crimson clunging to his black maw. The sound of animals slowly moving through the ravine filtered through, a tall audit flicked back to catch the sound of a quite fox. An idea forming in her mind, pivoting towards it she darted after the sound. Using her shadows to muffle her steps, the fox was hunting some voles so it didn't see her. Not until she pounced, the sound of fighting was quick and short. Grabbing it she rapidly made her way back to him, not caring at the blood staining her muzzle in weak splatters. She tossed the carcass at him, "Paint yourself, youre gonna help me wether you like it or not." If he left blood still in the body, she'd add her own pattern to herself.

"Speech." "Thoughts." Others speak.
He watched as she startled, her head turning to direct cerulean eyes at him, his own traveling over the peculiar accessory she wore. She responded by mentioning she was on a search for something, though what, she didn't say. Her head tilted as she scrutinized him, the look causing the fur on the back of his neck to stand on end in mild irritation. "My name is Eris." She was quick to inform him, as though some part of her wished for him to know her. She climbed her way up the incline and moved past him, his own large head turning to watch her go by as he then moved to face her. Her bat swooped down from the trees, dropping something into the strange fabric before careening in the air and disappearing into the forest again. She looked over her shoulder at him, staring, and he could sense that something about him rustled a type of exalt within her. Attuned to her, he only heard the creatures of the forest as a melded background noise, and so did not expect her to bolt off into the foliage unannounced. A faint huff exhaled through his nose, he sighed, presuming she'd abandoned him just as he had her upon their first encounter where she'd had a run-in with a bear. However, the sudden squealing of an animal breached his thoughts, slicing loudly through the air and causing some of the birds above to instinctively flee.

Tall, tapered ears tipped forward atop his head. He thought she'd left him there, until she reappeared to toss the body of a fox at him. "Paint yourself, you're gonna help me whether you like it or not." She authentically assumed that he would follow her directions, as though the instructions were to be obeyed lest he wished for some sort of demise. This soured his mood, a woman, no - a stranger - ordering him to do as she wished. The shadows around both of them began to move without warning, a strange black orb manifesting and shooting toward Eris, intending to barrel right into her and cause the breath to knock out of her lungs. If the hit landed, it would be an indication that he was capable of harming her should she try to tell him what to do a second time. Had he been hungry, he would have eaten the presented meal, but instead he simply left the fox there upon the ground where she had thrown it and otherwise ignored her request for him to cover himself in its blood. He only did so when he wished, or when it was necessary, and this was neither of those situations. "Do not speak to me as though I am a serf, and you, a Queen. You are nothing more than a fleeting breath, a feeble breeze, a leaf to be swept away by a trickling current." She was of very little importance to him, he made that clear, and he would do nothing more than what he felt in the moment. He waited for her to respond, should she at all, readying his magic to defend himself should it be necessary.

He spoke down to her as if she were nothing, and in a sense he was right. Narrowing her eyes she moved to stand before him, the height difference was immense. Looking up into his crimson gaze she saw how vacant it was, yet she didn't care. Ignoring his stance, if he wanted to fight then he would make the first move. "Well you came out here on your own, do not presume that I wish to fight. You became hostile for a good reason yes, but it makes me wonder if you are more akin to a mindless beast who was bitten with the foaming mouth than a child of the ram." Her pupils covered her eyes entirely, she stepped to the side. Standing before him was herself, but with black eyes. While her other self stood beside it, her body held in a bored manner. Ears held tall as she stared him down.

"Act like a pup who doesn't wish to be taught then you shall be treated as such." Her black eyed self snarled, while her other body turned her back on him and walked away. Granted it was a dangerous move, he was already in an aggressive stance and he could have attacked whenever he wanted. Yet if she did, then she'd show him just how aggressive she could be. One thing she hated was those who thought they were above others, she had to deal with that for her first year of life. She didn't need to deal with it again, she sent her thoughts to Morgan to stay away. Long legs carried her further, head still held high with the pride that ran through her body like heated blood from adreniline.

"Well, you came out here on your own, do not presume that I wish to fight. You became hostile for a good reason yes, but it makes me wonder if you are more akin to a mindless beast who was bitten with the foaming mouth, than a child of the ram." Of course he was out here on his own. He was exploring, and she just so happened to cross his path. He wasn't following her, like she implied. She made a wise decision to remain neutral, but her presumptuous nature and catty insults only further agitated him, his magic bubbling beneath his skin with a fury that begged to be unleashed. She made a duplicate of herself, but his eyes remained on her true form as she side stepped while staring at him as though she could truly defend herself if he so wished to harm her. Truthfully, part of him wanted to. His magic could make her bleed all over the ground and all over him, and he would not hesitate to let it soak him just to bathe in the glory and satisfaction of knowing he would be her end. However, another part of him wished not to waste his time, even if the very thought helped to calm his writhing anger a bit. "Act like a pup who doesn't wish to be taught, then you shall be treated as such." His eyes narrowed, the shadows around them seething as his agitation swelled again, his teeth flashing in a silent warning.

"Children are plagued with ignorance," he began strongly, his words potent and stinging like the venom of a snake. "Blinded by thoughts of strength and ill tactics. You presume I wish not to be taught, when in fact I've much more important matters to address. The only childish behavior occurring is that of your wasted meal and your dense idea that you have some kind of power over me." The wind around them seemed to cease to exist, his shadows climbing up every tree within a few feet of them to quiet their trembling, hushing the animals and insects nearby. The quiet fell into an eerie silence, with nothing but their beating hearts to be heard, the sound of Nocturne's slow and steady. "Perhaps in the future you will learn to be a bit more well mannered, and better educated." These were his last words before he dispersed, swiftly melting into the very ground at his feet and disintegrating into the shadows before she could further press him to hurt her.
