The soft thrumming of a barely beating heart was loud in the dead of night. Nothing but the bare whisper of movement noted a figure alive, though such a notion was nothing but laughable for the creature that tripped and stumbled through damp tunnels. It was finally time for the escape, a hardly thought out plan of a half-delirious creature after years of abuse broke down his body and mind. There was little time left as he stumbled away and found a way out, the air was crisp and cold, fall was afoot and it could only acknowledge with a small thought, escape was still just out of reach. Legs stumbled and the medium length gray quils trembled as he tripped over underbrush and roots, there was no location in mind, only anywhere but the hell he was in.

Light filtered through the trees as the sun rose slowly, eyes narrowed against the harsh light and it looked for a place of darkness, a place to hide from the glaring sun. Though it was softened by the early morning and cold season, still it was too much for him, a headache started to form in his already sore head. Stumbling into the shadows once again, he hid from the world the best he could, shielding his eyes from the sun. Blood seeped through his fur and slowly dripped to the ground, the faint realization that the various wounds that spread over his body had opened was numb and faint. There was little energy left as he fell to the ground, his massive form frail and thin from years of abuse and imprisonment. Harsh breathing caused his patchy fur rise and fall with the muscle, the black fading to white fur lacking luster and shine. He was a sorry sight to behold, once proud and noble, memories and emotions went with his magic and soul.

“Don’t waste your time looking back, your not going that way”

Finally he had brought his coven back to life. He was now the High king of the coven, with his brother next to him. He didnt want it any other way, but then again he had wished he had more of his old coven back. Calix knew there were two more wolves out in the world that were part of his old coven that had gotten away. Now he only hoped that they where still alive and maybe thought about coming home. If they ever returned home they would be granted their ranks back no matter what. After all he was the new king and he would make sure they where welcomed but also understood that all were welcome in the coven now. No longer where they strickly Fire affinity. But he was sure that they would understand, at least he would hope. As he walked along the boarder of the lands he sighed some as he folded his ears back as he soon sat down. He had done this every single night and never came across anything. But he knew if he didnt do it then something was bound to happen and he wouldnt allow anything to happen again.

Blue eyes turned to the rising sun, his patrol was nearly over now. It was about time for him to head back to his den to check on his coven. Most of them would be waking up and he was sure that Laxton was getting some sort of breakfast. It seemed he always made sure that there was food ready for the coven when they woke which was appreicated by calix, it ment one last thing that he didnt have to worry about. It made him happy that he had a coven again that others were wanting to be part of it. Tho he only hoped that Isias was going to stay, he wasnt sure how she was going to feel about staying with him and the coven. As he began to head back towards the dens a faint scent of blood hit him. Quickly he turned around nose into the air as he tried to figure out who or what was bleeding. It was so faint, it was hard for him to pin point it. Calix took in a deep breath as he began to focus on the scent trying to just focus on that instead of everything else. After a few moments he got it, he had pin pointed it. It was a wolf or at least he thought it to be he wasnt quite sure.

Pushing of the ground calix took off in a dead sprint, flame armor soon covering the male as he ran. He had to get to the scent before it disappeared forever. As he closed in on the scent it got stronger, at least he was getting close to it and it wasnt leaving. As he got closer his run went from full speed down to a slow trot, ears swilved around his head as he looked around the lands. Now he could seen a blood trail, it seemed to have came into the lands. Tilting his head he followed it, his flamed armor still on his body as he walked slowly. Claws dug into the ground as he walked, where did this creature go? It was bleeding a good amount, there was no way it got far. It was when he found the body of the creature that was bleeding that made him stop in his tracks. There was no way that it was him, How could it have been him? It looked nothing like him. Calix lowered his frame to the ground slightly attempting to get a better look but it was hard. The body was covered in wounds, some old some still very fresh.

How could this be him? The wolf he knew wouldnt allow himself to become like this. No Fable was a proud and noble wolf. But he held the scent of Fable, it was confusing to Calix. What had happened to him to make him look the way he did.

He could not tell how much time had past since he had laid down, but the rhythmic thrum of his heart beating and blood pulsing lulled him into a sense of calm. Though it was not a true calm, a simple trick of his body and mind to keep the deadly panic at bay. But the calm was as deadly as the panic, a blanket of comfort and warmth that could slip him into a slumber so deep he would never wake up again. Temptation rose at the thought, at the idea of letting this go and drifting to where no other pain could invade his mind and body. The feeling of something being missing, a whole half of his being was enough to make the idea of dying to seem so sweet and wonderful. He did not remember what he was missing, only that it was gone and so was he. It was a pain deeper than the physical torture that was used on him, it was worse than any other pain he had ever felt. And the inability to remember caused the whole to open more, to become deeper and darker. It was madness, a twisted and unnatural thing.

He almost missed the sound of something approaching, the sound of rustling foliage coming before the thing itself and it was unclear if it was a wolf or some other beast. He should have been frightened, worried that whatever this was was going to harm him more but the numbness spread over him again and he felt nothing. He simply closed his silver eyes and simply waited for whatever it was. The lull of his beating heart and pulsing blood washed over him and he grew slack, body laying there limp and unmoving.

Whatever it was had come, it had come and did nothing but he knew it had crouched close to the ground. There was something odd about this moment, almost as if it was waiting for him to do something, to move or yell, it waited and curiosity overcame the numbness. He opened his silver eyes and turned his massive head to see who or what was there and maybe even see death itself waiting for him to accept what was coming. Instead, he saw a wolf, its large form close to the ground and simply staring. His face was a white mask with dark purple and black surrounding it, white spots scattered around the purple, blue eyes staring at him with something close to shock. He simply stared back, almost lifeless.

He was still in very much disbelief that this was his coven member Fable. How could something like this happen to him? Fable was always very proud of his coat and how he looked. Ears flicked on the male's head as he just stared at the wolf that he had once known. He was ashamed of himself, but even more of fable. The wolf he knew was not a push over, he never allowed anyone to tell him what he could and couldnt do. But yet here he was a pile of bones and skin basically. Calix turned to look at the way that Fable had come from, who ever had done this to his friend would pay. One day calix will find the wolf or wolves that did this to Fable and make them regret ever harming him. Kneeling down calix sighed some as he sniffed at the male. There wasnt much life left in him which was heart breaking. "Fable" his voice was soft as he nudged the male's neck slightly as he rose up and looked around. With how badly hurt he was it wouldnt be wise to move him. Lucky enough for them they where decently close to where the dens where.

At least one that hadnt been taken by someone. Calix rose up to his feet and headed towards a den that was still covered with branches. Moving the branches he knelt down and looked into the den. It would do for fable, at least till he healed up and got better. As he moved around in the den shifting dirt and other things around he made sure that he made a nice place for Fable to rest. Tho calix would return later with a deer pelt for him to lay upon, after all fable was royalty at least in calix's eyes. Calix came out of the den and looked around, no one was around which was ok. He didnt want anyone to see how badly fable was, no one needed to see him the way he was. It wouldnt be right. Slowly he made his way back towards his friend, as he got closer he whined some as he began to think about how era would feel about seeing Fable. After all she was the one that kept telling him that he would find his family again. And here he was meeting his family again, he looked back to where his den was and smiled. But he had a bigger family now and fable was still part of it.

Kneeling at fable's body he pressed his forehead to fables. "Your Home Brother" as he pulled away he smiled some as he lowered himself even more and began to slowly ease himself under the body of the larger male. Even tho Fable wasnt at his best he was still larger then calix but he wouldnt make the male walk any more. He grunted some as he shifted the large male on his back better, so that he wouldnt slip off. Calix began to make his way back to the den where he knew fable would be safe and no one would harm him. "You are safe now. Nothing will harm you. I wont allow it" he spoke softly as he slipped into the den and placed Fable gently on the ground. As he laid the male lay on the ground he allowed his flames to softly burn around them, warming the ground to help aid fable.
