Reeva, Female Cat

The great male pursed his black lips together in a fine line, his steel eyes narrowed as he scoped the shoreline. He stood at the giant mouth of the cave, his ombre tail flicking back and forth aggressively. His tan paws were slightly darker than the wet, compact sand they were currently have emerged in, the tide having just gone out for the day.
A small pack of sea-lions basked in the lingering day among the tiny icebergs littering the shore as if they were washed up carcasses. Icy fat flakes of snow drifted from the gray sky above, winter still in full swing.

Sohvren hated the winter. The longer nights, cloud covered skies and absent sun left his power more of a whisper than a song in his veins. Reeva was almost narcoleptic, in full doze in a crevice of his skull between his antlers.

The trouble with the Guild had taken more time than he'd liked, almost an entire season. He still wasn't sure if it was settled, but with the god Maui returning to their land, there were bigger things to worry about than petty squabbles among the Hand and drying coffers.

Still, his mind wasn't racing with ideas of how to fix and where to steal or why Maui chose now. No, it was months away. Months ago, he'd promised her he'd come back. Months he'd left her. After years apart, months shouldn't matter, but...
He grit his teeth, the ground beneath him quaking at the sudden power radiating from his paws, claws digging into the soft sand as if he could satiate his agitation.
Sovhren let out a breath he didn't know he'd been holding. When Reeve woke up, he'd have her find a crow. He'd put off sending her a message for too long. He'd put off telling her about himself for too long. He'd put off hearing what she had to say...

He shook his dark head, Reeva neither stirring nor seeming to notice the sudden inertia. He was running away. Again.
Or maybe he was just tired. It showed on his harrowed face. Between the revalation that Sonja was still alive (and the recent rumors of Ryslen being seen near the Order, of all places...) and clusterfuck that was the shambles of the guild's current state, he was spent. Not even lifting a diamond a shallow color of pink off a wandering loner on his way back to the Blackwood had put him in a better mood.

A heavy sigh fell from his lips, the ruined side of his face leaned against the rough edge of the stone cave wall.

Time had gotten away from her, it was all beginning to cloud her mind, everything that had happened recently. From finding Sohvren again, to Maui's arrival, and what was most certainly unexpected; finding Zendelrin. And now, now she was heading toward the shore to meet with Jury, the man believed he knew the answer to Maui's riddle; that it was Atlahua he spoke of, and Jury believed he knew where the great turtle was. In turn he'd rallied herself and one other - who Sonja didn't know on a journey to attempt to find the turtle, she knew the time would be soon and wanted to remain nearby for when Jury needed her. Although she had to admit that her mind was not occupied with the quest at hand. She was instead distracted by the situation between her and Zendelrin...and the fact that Sohvren did not cease to infiltrate her every thought, constantly trying to disregard how much she missed him. They'd only just found one another, discovered that the other was alive and Sohvren had to turn and leave. Duties with the guild, she knew - but still. She didn't even get the chance to tell him about Zen and now...now everything was one big mess.

The woman sighed heavily, long ebony banner dragging behind her as she made her way across the rough beaches of Nidria, the scent of salt on the air, and the gentle hum of waves crashing upon the shore; even their lullaby could not settle the chaos in her heart. Large sable wings, cinnabar dipped feathers hugged tightly to her sides, a single audit drawing back as Bezalel cawed softly upon her back. How would she tell him? She felt sick, she hadn't eaten recently the stress keen on purging any appetite she might of begun to muster.

Sanguine gaze would rise, flickering up from watching her own paws drag through the sand as her crow lifted from her back rising off his perch to drift toward the cave in that sat upon the shoreline. His sharp eyes found the familiar face of the man first, gliding over Bezalel came to perch gently upon the one of the tines of Sohvrens crown, ruffling his wings as he beckoned to her. And Sonja let her eyes follow him.

Her heart fluttered. He was - he was here. Once again he was before her - it was a lot like the first time, when she had come over the hill. She paused, taking in the sight of him, he sat just a few lengths away from her leaning himself against the wall of the cave, his back to her unless Bezalels presence had drawn him to look around, she smiled as she closed the stretch of sand between her and the cavern. Her nose found his shoulder before she found her voice, "Sohvren..." she sighed, "....you were gone too long" again — her voice almost broke.

He didn't react when the raven perched himself atop his skull, the weight familiar despite Bezalel having never done it before. He held his breath, not sure what she would do, then let himself sigh in content when her nose buried itself in his shoulder. He felt himself lean into her despite himself, his insides uncurling and unclenching at her touch. Just the presence of the ebony female was enough to sooth his worries.

"Sohvren...you were gone too long."

He couldn't help it; he flinched. The waver in her voice left him reeling. The words in his throat dried there as he found himself unable to give an excuse. She had him wrapped around her paw and didn't even know. His dark claws dug into the sand, his icy eyes focused on the small crack in the cave wall with which he leaned. The jagged edge jutted upwards and then webbed in different angles away, as if something had slammed against it with great force.
The thief lord swallowed, the dryness of his throat making it a task.

“I know.” he said, softly.

It took him a moment, but he turned to her then, silvery eyes finding bloody red.

“I'm sorry it took so long, Princess.” Sohvren kept his voice steady, but sincere. He hadn't wanted to leave her - not after they'd just been reunited.

A flash of a memory, of Sonja, not six months old, grinning like a fox as she showed off her newly acquired familiar.

"Isn't he handsome, Sohv?"

Sohvren, barely old enough to understand, cawing at the bird as if he couldn't speak. Sonja's laughter and delight at the action.

He shook himself from the memory. A grin crept to his scarred maw.

“Good thing you're so good at finding me, hmmm?” He teased, a small attempt to make her smile. Yes, they needed to talk. But at that particular moment in time, he wasn't in any hurry to separate from her so soon.
