As he wandered deeper and deeper into the misty woods, Black Hat began to feel drowsy. What was the meaning of this? His paws were dragging along the ground, and it reached a point where he couldn't fight off the feeling any longer. Finding the hollow of a tree, he curled up inside and was out like a light.

When Black Hat next opened his eyes, he was stood out in the open. The Black Forest looked familiar, yet different. The fog was especially dense and black in color like the wisps that clung to him. He could hardly see a bloody thing, but what he could make out from the trees was that they appeared especially gnarled now. The once-silent woods were now filled with whispers as if the trees were murmuring amongst themselves. Black Hat stood with a wide stance, muscles coiled as he readied himself for something to go awry. What in the gods' names was going on?!

Just as he asked that question, the fog thinned and separated to reveal a positively massive white-lipped python. Its trapezoidal head rested upon countless black coils that glistened in the low light from rows of iridescent scales. Black Hat would be lying if he said the creature was anything but a stunning masterpiece, but the absurdity of his current situation reigned supreme. "Who the hell are you?" He demanded. The serpent slowly raised its head, peering calmly at him with its unblinking eyes. "Answer me!"

The enormous snake watched, eyes narrowing upon the wolf of shadows before her unflinching as he shouted at her. She moved suddenly coiling her head backwards and then suddenly mouth gaping, opening wide she aimed to strike at the wolfs face with a violent and aggressive motion.

He received no response from the python, only the narrowing of its eyes. The muscles of its neck stiffened as it coiled to strike. Only one thought crossed Black Hat's mind at this moment, and that was "Oh shit." This monster had to weigh twice as much as he did, comprised purely of muscle supported by durable bone. It launched straight for him with inch-long fangs bared, and there was nothing he could do to stop it.

The fiend was aimed right for his handsome face, which he simply wouldn't allow. Black Hat attempted to leap out of the way with his head instinctively tilted back, though it still managed to slam its teeth into his shoulder like a truck. He snarled in pain, nearly losing his footing. With a racing heart pumping adrenaline through his veins, Black Hat summoned his shadow and squashed it into a thin shape. He tried to shove it underneath the serpent's jaw to pry it off of him, and he'd be far from gentle in doing so. Black Hat hoped he broke all its bloody teeth. What did he do to piss this thing off, anyway?!

The bite - although the wolf had dodged most of it was satisfying nonetheless, as she dug her fangs into his shoulder hungering to see if Black hat would prove himself worthy to hold her by his side. Muscles coiled as she held on tightly, even as a son of the ram summoned his shadows to his aid the python did not let up. She clenched down harder, but when his shadows backfired, betraying their master the python released him - cackling at the dark man muscles coiling she would cock her head back again a bone chilling hiss emanating from her as she lunged for him once more.

May the son of the ram yield.

Lady luck was not on his side, for Black Hat was unable to get his shadow between his flesh and the snake's teeth. Instead, it bowed from the force of his attempt and launched right at his skull. He croaked horribly in pain, coarse voice scratching at the air's seams like nails on a chalkboard. Dark spots clouded his vision, and when he thought he couldn't possibly be demoralized further, the damned creature laughed at him. Laughed! At him! Black Hat's irritation boiled over into unadulterated rage. He wasn't even grateful that the cretin had released him; all he desired was to inflict as much pain and suffering as possible before ending its worthless life.

To his utter despair, the python came at him again, clamping down on the same wound again. Searing, white-hot pain shot up Black Hat's shoulder and into his spine. A snarl erupted from his throat like thunder from a bolt of lightning. But through the fury and the pain, he focused on imposing his own mind onto the serpent's far inferior one, hellbent on making it suffer for its insolence.

If he succeeded in this, his image would disappear in its mind's eye, replaced by a segment of its own body. The pain he felt would become its own as he led the python to believe it sank its teeth into itself. While preoccupied with that, Black Hat would mercilessly sink his own fangs into the dense flesh of its neck. Only then would it be awakened to the reality of the situation.

Familiar quest - large python!

Yet again the son of the ram failed his magick, and how the python mocked him. She snickered and sneered, he would however catch her on the back of the neck, his fangs piercing her scales, she hissed in pain. Whipping her head around to sink her fangs into his muzzle.

Run little ram, run! You are not worthy.

Somehow, the snake was unaffected by his hallucinogenic attempt. Was it immune to his magic? He was convinced of it at this point. It only continued in its mockery, which he simply could not stand for. Even if his magic failed him here, Black Hat still had his fangs. So while the serpent yakked it up, he sank his teeth deep into its flesh. It hissed in protest, giving him but a moment's satisfaction before the thing flung its head around to return the favor. Apparently, he'd gripped it too far down. Its pointed jaws clamped 'round his muzzle, and the pain prompted him to quickly let go.

Managing to wriggle free, Black Hat hesitated for a moment, blood rolling down his face in rivulets. As much as it bruised his pride to turn tail, he didn't know what he was up against. There wasn't too much shame in forfeiting against a colossal magic-immune snake. So he ran while he still could, cursing the beast and swearing to himself he'd have his revenge.
