He’d been having this reoccurring dream, as of late. Was it even a dream? Weren’t dreams supposed to weird and fantastical with details that were difficult to recall once you awoke and left behind a feeling that was impossible to replicate?

This dream was nothing like that. He remembered the details like he’d lived them yesterday — because he had. Well, not exactly.
It’d been the start of spring, though you wouldn’t know it. He could smell it. The scent which drove him into a shiver of fearful lust. Even in slumber. A need unstained for quite some time. It left him panting. Tongue escaping the canvas of his mouth to hang useless at just the center of his bottom jaw. He had to find him. His brother. From where he lay, the musk grew closer. Stronger. Overwhelming him into submission. Tail thumping excitedly against the earth. Whilst, anticipation increased. Xzabrie contemplating meeting him.

But, where was he? The surrounding area was nothing but darkness. Closing in and swallowing him whole. All he knew was his brother would soon bark an order for him to come. But, he wouldn't. He'd disobey and obey all at once.

So, he waited. Standing to pace. Only coming to a standstill to gaze at the appearing tree lines forming through the heavy darkness. Separating himself from the beast hunting its prey. Oh. He could just simply imagine what would become of his body. The phantom feeling of teeth breaking into the skin of his scruff. Every thrust. It caused him to pant even harder.

Waiting.

Ready.

Just for a moment, a brief second, Xzie stilled. Rethinking his thoughts. Was this really a dream? The only indication was the deep silence and pitch black around him. Something snapped. Echoing around him in every direction. An inner fight to stay and submit or run for freedom. It wouldn't take much to just turn and allow his legs to take him wherever they may.

But, where would he go in such a dream? He needed to wake up.

A whimper fell free. Soft. Begging. He knew he would never do such a thing. His body forbid him.

A rippling snarl off to his left brought him back. He was here. Stalking from the darkness and into the only area which held Xzie himself. The look of anger on Zen's face said it all. There was nothing for him to do. Automatically, he fell onto his belly. Tail tucking against the fur there. Crawling with an averted gaze. No words were spoken as he licked his brother's chin. Head moving to submit his throat. Revealing the vulnerability only the large male before him would see. Was he to greet him? Speak? Ask what's wrong? Xzie remained silent. Staring endlessly at a rodent as it stopped to look at the scene just before he felt the teeth of his brother rip at his throat.

Then the dream was gone.

He still didn’t have any answers to the questions that bumbled around his head when he opened his eyes every day, and he likely never would. It was just a nightmare, after all. A nightmare bared into his mind and now took over a life that was no longer his no matter where he went. He was forever and would always be Zen’s.

His chest heaved with a soft sigh into the quiet, peaceful moments just before dawn, watching as the sun slowly peeked over the horizon, casting long tendrils of light and shadow onto the inhabitants below. It would still be a few moments before the sunlight would grace the mountain, and in those soft, dark moments, Xzie was alone with his thoughts.

Quietly, she watched from afar. Lucien, her dearest white raven, in the air above with cues of the native ahead. Already alerting Astarte the distance between them, telepathically. She exhales out the colder air with a sign. "Thank you Lucien." She speaks softly, faintly, as she immersed herself within the fog ahead.

Her soft steps tread mindfully as she goes over the many rocks that litter the terrain. And it is dawning- still uncomfortably dark for the light queen so she is cautious with a focused gaze afar. Her trailing tail just behind her slender ankles as she strides forth slowly, her large tufted audits swiveling atop her horny crown.

On guard, she sniffs as she closes in inevitably. Lucien keeping a view of her as he remains high. "You're close, not much further Astarte," he sternly advises mentally. So she pauses accordingly, her long tail swaying with motion as her supple paws splay on the cold ground. Held poised and planted, her magenta orbs make out his figure. Dull, mutation-less, bland. He is of no vibrancy. Her face nearly scrunches at the disapproval but does not- giving only a twitch of her rose nose. His golden sun gaze can be seen now, washing over the horizon as he seems to appreciate beauty. She hums, as if concluding that perhaps this could be a new friend.

His aura is calm, peaceful and still. Inviting to her own as she decided to step closer. Presumably larger than he as she makes way to emerge from the fog behind. Her visage sleek and neutral with an idle stare that was not harsh nor hardened. But soft, and curious- opposing her formal nature. "May I watch the sun return to her domain with you?" She offers a brief smile, darker lips pulling softly at the ends of her mouth as her attractive face rises at the cheek.

It wasn’t long before an unfamiliar voice called out, and Xzabrie blinked, shaken from his trance. Immediately feeling an abundance of tension ceased his muscles into a tightened hold. The voice was unknown territory. Had Zen sent her? Briefly did his eyes trail over to the woman. Her coat of white all he could see. The largeness of her toppling his own slender body quite intimidating. Yet, he refused to show her this. "I don't mind," he spoke gently, his eyes returning to the rising sun.

His thoughts had this tendency to coalesce when he was alone. There was just something about that stillness, the heaviness of being by yourself, that drudged them up and caked them into the fur on his back, one after another until he was buried beneath him — dark and smothering. It had never bothered him all that much. In fact it was downright familiar, that heaviness. Darkness.

But something had happened recently that made things seem... lighter. Less cloying.

The darkness still came for him, in those quiet moments just before dawn. Still buried him in miles and miles of dreams, nightmares and faces and names that should’ve been all familiar but simply... weren’t. The only difference was that, instead of coalescing like they usually did, one after another, each day getting harder and harder to breathe beneath it all — the sun rose and his thoughts retreated back into the dark, forgotten recesses of his mind. Temporarily, always temporarily, but at least he could finally get a chance to breathe.

He called out to one of those suns, now. Rising to his paws as the first vestiges of sunlight hit his toes and began the slow crawl up his legs, Xzie turned in the direction of the aforementioned unfamiliar voice, the corner of his lip curling ever so slightly into the faintest of smiles. Her presence here was calm. Welcoming. It was such a shame that he couldn’t be her friend. Or, maybe he could? The thought of having to hide her from his brother… their friendship alone, if ever built, would be his own secret to bury and dig up when needed.

For now, Xzabrie could enjoy this moment. Be himself.

(assuming hes sitting on haunches)
She can feel from the ground that he be the child of the ram- an opposing element but nonetheless a balancing one. She appreciates this, taking note while she awaited his response. And gladly, she is met with mutual warmness- their exchanged words flowing with delightful ease. Somehow, she felt familiar with him. Or maybe just comfortable.

Inviting herself closer as she watches him return his amber gaze ahead, her stalky legs stepping silently to his left until she sits upon her furry haunches; lavish fur brushing the ground to surround her, comforting her and keeping her warm as the sun rose.

She looks ahead, her pink orbits looking at the clouds & magenta skies- embracing the light as it came to shine on the pair. He seemed to ponder mostly, as he remained silent. Perhaps enjoying his time here, and for a darkling, she couldn't be more surprised. As her understanding, no, judgment, had been wrong after all. Her mind seemingly changing with this positive experience, and Lucien somewhere above, observing her internal fondness and warmth of character grow. He squawks from above, excited or maybe proud of this silent identity growth. As he beheld a possible endearment, a thing that could cease Astarte into a more sentimental perspective for others.

Her majestic poising face soon then turns to him, her eyes soft and calm as she searches for his own orbits.  "I am Astarte."

Xzabrie:

She spoke her name. The tender sweetness like honey dripping from white lips reaching his ears. He didn’t turn, though. Gaze capturing the rise of sun just off to the distance. It amazed him. Fascinated him. His nightmare shortly forgotten by just the simple display of morning.

Yet and still, silence greeted them both. Having to tell the woman his name. He only turned to look at her. Admiring the beauty she radiated. Like the sun, he grew interest. Not in a loving or attractive way. It just took away his breath. The need to speak.

Phantom whispers of his brother caused his eyes to drop. A visible flinch breaking through a once calm demeanor. Before a shiver of lust shook his form. Dare he say he missed the harsh words and abuse the male gave him. It being the only thing he could hold on to. A reminder of what and who he belonged to. Xzabrie turned back to the horizon. Words finally finding a voice. ”Xzabrie.”
